Back in October, our directors Amanda and Annie headed to Decorex, ‘the’ interior trade fair of the year. It is always lovely to say hello to our community, catch up on what’s new and do lots of project research. There is always so much to see, that always leaves us feeling so inspired.
Beige was definitely banned this year, with a lot more colour being used across the board by the different brands. Here are some of our highlights, from natural shades and textures to beautiful lighting and pretty prints…
Our Favourite New Supplier
We spotted Ellen Merchant at the 2023 show, when she was part of the Maker’s Spaces and so it was lovely to see how far she has come in the last year to have our own stand. Her printed fabrics and wallpapers are so pretty, and beautifully hand crafted in the UK. We love her use of colour, which paired with her botanical prints create such vibrant and unique fabrics and wallpapers – we can’t wait to start using her work within our projects.
Our Favourite Display
Lighting was a huge focus of this year’s show, from the contemporary fittings at Lights and Lamps, to the elegant pieces from J Adams, and sustainable fittings from Tasmine Osher.
But our standout favourite display came from Pooky, whose vibrant and colourful display highlighted the versatility of their new rechargeable bulbs. A total game changer for anyone wanting to install lighting in areas they don’t have wiring, or for someone in a period property who can’t touch the existing fabric. Such a versatile and clever solution that we are sure we’ll get lots of use of.
Our Favourite New Product
Our old friends at Imogen Heath launched a new sheer fabric collection at the show this year, with reimagined patterns from their existing designs. Some of our old favourites were in there, including the Leni Stripe and the Abigail which we used at our Riverside Pied-à-Terre project. We love how their designs add a colourful and playful, yet contemporary feel to a sheer curtain.
Our Favourite Stand
Warm, natural colours and textures where a strong stand out across many suppliers this year, but we felt no one displayed that better than Oka. Natural tones and textures added depth to their warm colour palette, elevating the whole space. Their inviting and cosy sitting room was certainly a welcome break after a day on your feet!
