The Surface Design Show 2025

A slightly different and exciting mid week morning for the ASJ Design Team was to attend the Surface Design Show 2025. It was full of inspiration, new ideas, and exciting materials. From unique textures to eco-friendly solutions, we saw plenty of innovative designs.

We discovered some standout brands, each bringing something different to the table. We are excited to share some of our favourites that impressed us with their creativity, quality, and sustainability.

WONDERWALL STUDIOS

During our visit, one of the most inspiring brands we came across is Wonderwall Studios. Specialising in salvaged wood panelling, they transform discarded timber into stunning surfaces, giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste.

They source reclaimed wood from old structures, abandoned houses, derelict sheds, wine barrels, old floors… Anything really, as long as it’s salvaged. The result is a collection of panels with beautiful textures, each of them with a unique character and history, bringing warmth and depth to the interiors.

Their designs are really versatile, suitable for walls, ceilings, doors, and even bespoke joinery. The tactile quality of the wood adds a natural, inviting feel, making it a great choice for residential spaces. It perfectly blends sustainability with style, proving that eco-friendly design doesn’t mean compromising on aesthetics.

ARMOURCOAT

Armourcoat designs and manufactures sustainable luxury plasters, decorative paints, and panel systems for both interior and exterior applications. Their products, made in the UK, use natural minerals, including recycled marble, providing both quality and environmental responsibility. They offer a variety of twelve different lime and marble plaster finishes and a variety of colours to suit projects of all budgets and styles.

We loved the variation possible with their product range, but also the quality of the products themselves which was evident both to see and touch. The ability to create your own panels and designs through taping and stencilling opens up lots of design possibilities.

ARTSTONE

Another exciting exhibitor was Artstone, a leading brand in decorative wall panels. Since 2005, it has been transforming interior and exterior spaces with creative designs that combine beauty and functionality.

One of their most innovative products that they presented at the exhibition is Arcqitone, a mineral-based wall cladding system that is durable, lightweight, flexible, and eco-friendly. This system offers endless possibilities for both indoor and outdoor spaces, including bathrooms and wet areas. What’s even more impressive is its ability to bend and take on curved shapes, opening up new design opportunities.

DC CUSTOM TILES

One other highlight from the show this year was DC Custom Tiles, a company that stands out for their ability to create bespoke ceramic tiles for any project, either big or small. What’s exciting about their approach is the blend of tradition and innovation. They use both traditional ceramic printing methods and their own digital printing technology to offer a cost-effective way for designers and clients to create unique tile patterns.

What we liked about DC Custom Tiles is the possibility of bringing any ideas to life, by designing custom tiles that fit your exact vision. The combination of traditional screen printing and modern digital technology allows for endless design possibilities.

The Surface Design Show 2025 was full of fresh ideas and inspiration. We saw so many innovative materials that blend design with sustainability. We continue to notice that each year, the focus on eco-friendly solutions grows stronger, towards more responsible design, which is something that we are proud to embrace.

It was also exciting to see how technology is shaping the future of surfaces and we’re looking forward to using these ideas in our upcoming projects, watch this space!
